These days I try to follow the frequent advice of one of my favorite astrology podcasters, Jessica Lanyadoo, to anchor my wellness internally. Rather than fixate on making sure that everyone around me is okay before thinking about myself, I’ve learned that my oxygen mask must be secured and oxygen flowing before I can  care effectively for others. I am also committed to a practice of keeping my heart open when fear, blame, criticism or judgment close in. This is never a perfect practice, and I have made some progress.

I have always been a seeker. In my late teens and early 20s, I chose to study the intersections of religion, culture and politics instead of taking a straight and narrow path to a well-paying profession. I had my first astrology reading in my late 20s. Tarot found me in my late 30s. (I’ll tell you that story face-to-face, if you’re interested.) Over the years I have learned to trust the synchronicities that arrive along the way and engage them with curiosity instead of fear. Now in my late 40s, I’m gathering, integrating and sharing the tools and practices that have been most supportive in my journey toward a full and open heart. I use the word “healing” to indicate the intention of these practices and to honor the role they have played in my life.
